Take the Dare

I can't believe I did a whole post on activism and causes yesterday and haven't plugged a specific event on this blog. Thank you, kind Jason, for reminding me. I swear I'm spacey. So speaking of voting with your wallet....

PARIS PAN TAKES THE DARE author Cynthea Liu, who I don't represent but is both talented and lovely which I know because I met her at SCBWI Oklahoma, has organized a fabulous auction to benefit Tulakes Elementary School.

I've donated a 5 page critique of either a middle-grade or YA manuscript, and the bidding war continues.

But it's not just me. Many fabulous editors and agents and authors have donated all kinds of things to benefit the school. And if you can't bid high, just donate the amount you can. So will you take the dare? Click through below.

Bravo! A much more effective means of making a difference than, say, turning one's avatar green. ;)

Yup, this idea is great for several reasons. For one thing, an auction helps those of us who live far, far from where any conventions are held to have the chance to get some advice from a real agent or editor. And it helps kids get a more quality education. Talk about bang for your buck...I'm surprised this doesn't happen all the time.

Thanks for volunteering for this Elana. I know as an agent your time is precious, but certainly the kids will appreciate it, as will whatever writer wins your critique.
